Blue, Blue Christmas

Good Morning all

Well its Friday again and its Mel again but I'm here with something very new to me, so please be kind!

So I tried this new technique, if you find something wrong please be kind let me know!

Firstly I took a piece of super glossy card stock and cut it done to fit on my card

Next I covered it in Peacock Feathers and Broken China blue tones Distress Ink

I then used my heat tool to help dry of the ink ( be really careful with this and make sure the inks dry! I didn't do so well the first time heee)

Then taking my Embossing Ink and the snowflakes from the Crafty Impressions Happy Holidays set, I stamped all over to make my background

Then I covered the snowflakes in embossing powder the knocked off any extras

Heat all over with the heat tool again

I then took my black permanent ink pad and wiped it all over the surface, I did this a few times to get a nice even coat all over

then wipe over with a tissue to remove any excess ink from the embossed snowflakes

Next I layered the panel on to black card adding some ribbons before layering it on to a white card blank

I finished it off with the lil Time of Magic sentiment on another piece of white card that I inked again with the distress inks adding a black edge

I hope you like my little tutorial and sorry its not the greatest! But with practise I might get better heee

Well I'm decorating the tree today and baking some chocolate cupcakes for Craft Club tomorrow so all have a fab day!

It's getting closer!

It's hard to believe that in three weeks the big day will be here! It only seems like a couple of weeks  have gone by since summer!!

My piece for Clare Curd Crafts DT blog this week is a mixed media wall hanging, and with Christmas been so close I made it a little seasonal.

I used a piece of mount board as my base, and firstly covered it in tissue paper to get some good texture. This was then coated in a layer of gesso, and then lots of layers of acrylic paints. Some stamping was added and some bubble wrap-applied paint.

Then I added some areas of Flitter Glu and Mega Flakes in Royal Peacock

The small snowflakes and the robin are from the Winter Critters stamp set

My girl is paper pieced and then paint added to give some depth.

How cute is that robin

See you next week x

Silent Night

Welcome to Clare Curds Craft blog!

I really love Christmas crafting, so was really excited when I received my design team goodies from the wonderful Clare Curd Crafts. And I knew exactly what I wanted to do with the Winter Silhouettes stamp set.

I am always inspired by anything the incredibly talent Barbara Grey does, so here is my little homage to her using this stamp set, Broken China Distress Ink and Memento Tuxedo black ink.

Firstly I masked off the edged of the card and placed a ripped piece of paper along the bottom third so I could form some hills.

Taking the Distress Ink I applied from the outer edge inwards

Once the paper is removed, you have the appearance of snow covered hills.

To add dimension, I rotated the ripped paper and added  some snow drifts by sponging very gently downward across the edge of the paper.

I lined up the paper again with the hills I had just formed and then stamped over the edged of it with the village scene using black ink. I repeated again to add house

Removing the outer masking tape left a clean boarder framing the image

I took one of the sentiments from the stamp set, which I stamped over the edge of the image in the bottom right hand corner,

Taking a black fine line pen I added a slightly waving line around all the edged of the image.

And hey-presto the finished image :)

Thanks for popping by, and I will see you again next Wednesday with another Clare Curd Crafts project...see you then.
