A lovely day

Hello!

The sun put in a very welcomed appearance yesterday and I think it was reflected in the card I was making, bright and cheerful

I used the 

My Mind's Eye Kate and Co. OXFORD LANE 6 x 6 paper pad 

and the 

My Mind's Eye Kate and Co. OXFORD LANE Stamp Set

start by decorating your base card if you wish, then cut a few narrow strips of the patterned paper and weave these together. Cut a picture tile, also from the paper pack, and mount this up on layers of 

coordinating papers to give some depth. Finally run a contrasting ink pads around the edges of your finished card.

A sunny disposition

Hi :-)

 Today I've used the

My Mind's Eye Kate and Co. OXFORD LANE 6 x 6 paper pad

and the clear stamp set that goes with the collection.

I love this collection, so fresh and sunny, and yet suitable for anyone as there is such a wide variety of papers and images in the collection.

I started off by picking a few papers from the pack and cut them into banner shapes.

I them picked out one of the small icon pictures that are included in the pad. I cut it out and mounted it onto a contrast piece of card.

I found my base card to stark against the patterned papers so I took out my beloved Dylusion sprays and added some splashes of colour. 

I also took the little dotty stamp and the flower from the stamp set and added them in a few places.

Then I mounted up  the banners, curling the points a little, and the image, raised on adhesive 3D foam pads.

Looking forward

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Mine was peaceful, spent in the company of my husband and our two Sons. Our daughter and her partner couldn't join us as she was unfortunately working, so I made them both a 'takeaway' Christmas dinner, which her boyfriend called round and picked up so she had a good meal waiting for her when she got home at 8pm.

 

I was thinking of the coming year and came across a lovely quote online, which I wanted to use on an art journal page

I started off adding a coat of gesso to my page, and then using a collection of paints, inks and Dylusion sprays added colour



 

The colour was added in layers.

 

interest and texture added by using stencils and sequin waste.

some splatters are added with Dylusions



 

just keep adding layers until you are happy with what you see.

 

I stencilled through a face stencil using texture paste, and when dry I re-stencilled using a black permanent pen.

 

 

I added some pieces of masking tape and some Mega Flakes to give more texture.

more stamps are applied and some details using a black pen.

some white paint drips to lighten the page.

 

 

the words of the quote are torn to size and then added to the page, you could if you wanted hand write on your page.

Christmas Panel By Kim Dellow

Hi Guys, Kim Dellow here again with a Christmas panel. It can be turned into a card, or home decoration or even a tag.

I've embossed the IndigoBlu I Wish You a Merry Christmas Mounted Dinkie Stamp with white powder on a Dylusions ink spray Red background.

Every time I see the John Lewis advert I get that warm, fuzzy, Christmas is coming feeling, and I think it's sort of inspired my piece for this weeks DT spot, only I've used a fox and a hare, no bears here.

 

 

I've used a 5x7 canvas board as my substrate, and applied layers of acrylic paints and sprays to get the desired background effect.

 

The trees and animals ( how cute are they) are from the Winter Critters set, by Crafty Impressions and the Santa and reindeers are from the Here comes Santa set, by IndigoBlu

Inky Butterflies

Well good morning all

Its Friday already, can't believe what a fast week its been and not only that its the 1st of the month already! Can you believe its November??

Well its Mel again and this week I have been getting really messy and inky

As you can see I've been playing with my Distress Inks and some Dylusions Spray plus my fav IndigoBlu Wild Meadow Butterfly stamp

First I used my Distress inks in Peacock Feathers and Broken China to make my blue backgrounds then sprayed them with my Dylusions After Midnight Ink before spraying with my sparkle spray

Next I stamped my butterfly from the set using embossing ink and powder onto black paper, again spraying over with Dylusions and sparkle before cutting and layering my panels

You can see above I cut out a few of the butterflies in a black and also one in white with the Peacock Feathers ink before sticking to the card and adding a small sentiment from my stash, adding a small piece of ribbon to tie the colours altogether

I really enjoyed getting messy and playing with my sprays as the do get neglected while I play with papers and making 3D items lol! Tho the ink just doesn't wanna come off now

Drink...If You Dare! By Kim Dellow

Hi Guys, Kim Dellow here and I offer you a brew today, if you have been to my blog then you will know who brewed it...so do you want to drink it? Mwahahahaha!

Ooops! perhaps the menacing laughter should have stayed in my head? Really, go on, take a sip...It won't hurt you...or will it?

The brew was made by covering one side of a bottle-shaped piece of acetate with alcohol ink then using blending solution to stamp the IndigoBlu Bubble Background into the alcohol ink side. The bottle is corked with DCWV Adhesive Cork and it sits on a shelf painted with Dylusions Ink Spray and Ranger Distress Ink.

So perhaps, before you drink it, you better go check who brewed it?

Where does the time go??

 

Late yesterday I realised it was Wednesday and I hadn't put together anything for

my DT blog post, ooops 

 

I was short on time and was wondering what could I put together in about 30 minutes that was fun and would look good. Then it struck me....ATCs (artist trading cards, for anyone who doesn't know)

I really loved making these little cards but haven't made any for quite some time, so that made my mind up, ATCs it was then.

 

 

I started off colouring a piece of white paper with Dylusion sprays and then after cutting the pieces to size  I added some stamping, in fact these are all quite old stamps that haven't been used in ages, but I really liked using them with newer products like the sprays as they have all been given a new lease of life!

the white dots are done using the Inkssentials white pen

 

I really enjoyed these little pieces of craftiness, just perfect when I only have half an hour to play.

 

Today's Star by Kim Dellow

Hey Guys, Kim Dellow here with my inky make this week. It's a card which is a little change from the tags over the last couple of weeks.

So there is a little bit of Dylusion Ink Spray and the Hero Arts Today Stamp set.

It is inky and messy, just how I like it!

Pretty in pink

This week I thought I'd visit a love a had years back, acetate! I have made many things in the past using acetate as the base, I just love the look of it.

 

I had the urge to make something girly and pretty so that's exactly what I did.

 

 

 

I started out with a piece of acetate, 4x12 inches folded in half (4x6), which I then put the right hand side through my cuttlebug to emboss, bare in mind this will then be the front of your card

 

 

once embossed this is what you will have.

 

Now to start working on the elements for your card. I used some Dylusion sprays to colour my card,

put some of your chosen colour into a pallet and use as paint

 

 

remember to use varying amounts of white to vary your shades.

 

with any paint left cover a sheet of card or paper, you'll need it later if you want to die cut elements to add to your card.

 

Now for stamping, pick your main image stamp and also a few smaller stamps with which to make a background. I used the postage mark stamp from the Crafty Impressions Explore stamp set , as well as a couple of others from my stash.

 

 

cut you background piece about an inch smaller all round than your card base and after edging the sides with some brown ink apply it to the inside of your card. Don't worry about being able to see the glue as you'll cover this up later.

 

Now for the front of the card, place your main focal image where you would like it to be and using decorative elements play around until you like what you see. Clare carries some lovely

elements you could use. Some great items to use are sequin waste, ribbons, lace, paper flowers and die cuts ( this is where your painted sheet of paper comes in handy) ( metal dies )

Once I was happy with the layout of the elements I glued them all in place.

 

 

Once the front of your card looks pretty you need to pay a little attention to the back and inside as all the glue/double sided tape that you've is visible, so cut a piece of card the same size as the background you stuck inside the card and attach this to the vary back of your card, this also gives you somewhere to write your sentiment.

And do the same to hide the sticky stuff from the front.
