A simple notebook using scraps

Hi, it's Friday again so it's my turn to share a project with you.  I had lots of scraps leftover from a project that I've been working on for this blog and I didn't want to throw them away - the papers are just too pretty!  They are from this paper pad by My Mind's Eye:

So I decided to use them to decorate the cover of a little notebook.  The notebook measures 5 by 4 inches and is the perfect size for jotting down little notes.  The cover is just some kraft coloured card that measured 5 by 8 1/8 inches.  I scored it at 4 and 4 1/8 inches - this creates an 1/8 inch spine.

For the cover I cut the banners by hand and stapled them together at the top.  I then punched out some butterflies and layered two together and then stapled them in the middle.  I used a punch to create a decorative edge and added a bit of bling to a few of the punched out circles.

For the pages inside I simply folded some paper in half  (5 sheets)  and then using my paper piercer made 4 holes along the fold line.  I did the same along the spine of the front cover.  I then used some of the matching twine from the collection to stitch the whole thing together.
